Washington has signed its second player to a contract for the 2025 Frontier League season and he will be returning to Wild Things Park, the site of many of his collegiate games.
The Wild Things announced Tuesday that they have signed right-handed relief pitcher Jacob McCaskey, a Tarentum native who played college baseball for California, which plays its home games at Wild Things Park.
McCaskey played high school ball for Deer Lakes and went on to California, where he spent four years and was a second team NCAA Division II All-American. He had an 8-5 record as a pitcher for the Vulcans and batted .332 with 22 home runs and 121 RBI.
McCaskey (6-0, 205) played his final season of college baseball at the Division I level for Gardner-Webb in 2023, again splitting time between hitting and pitching.
Last summer, McCaskey made his professional debut in the independent Pioneer League, playing for the Northern Colorado Owlz. He had a 2-1 record and 5.44 ERA in 35 outings (one start). He also had 51 at-bats with Northern Colorado.
