Wild Things shut out again, lose, 1-0

TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec – Jessen Therrien and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Trois-Rivieres Aigles blanked the Wild Things 1-0 Thursday night.
Washington was shut out for the eighth time, which is the most in the Frontier League this season.
The Wild Things, who scored 23 runs in winning the first two games of the series, should have banked some of those runs. Two would have come in handy after Trois-Rivieres scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the first inning.
Washington’s Ben Watson started the game with a double and the Wild Things had runners on second and third with no outs but did not score as Therrien (5-4) got out of the jam with two strikeouts and a flyout.
T-R scored in the first against Washington starter Zach Kirby (6-5). Mathieu Vallee led off with a single, stole second and third, and scored on a two-out single by Manny Garcia. Vallee has 69 stolen bases on the season.
Kirby threw a complete game four-hitter. He walked two and struck out six.
Therrien struck out six and walked one over 7⅔ innings. He gave up four hits.
T-R reliever Wendell Floranus struck out the only batter he faced, and Alexander Castro pitched the ninth for his fifth save.
Washington did not lose ground to first-place Lake Erie in the Central Division as the Crushers lost at Gateway, 9-5. The Wild Things are one game behind the Crushers.
