Third baseman Tommy Caufield is coming off a year in which he batted .283 with 11 home runs and stole 29 bases.

The Wild Things have been busy building their roster for the 2025 Frontier League season and re-signed another player who spent last season hitting in the top half of the batting order.

Washington announced Tuesday that it has signed third baseman Tommy Caufield to a new contract.

Caufield joins center fielder Caleb McNeely, first baseman Andrew Czech, designated hitter Tyreque Reed and infielder Ethan Wilder as returning position players to a team that advanced to the league championship series last year.

The left-handed hitting Caufield enters his third season of pro ball, all with Washington. He signed with the Wild Things out of Millersville University during the 2023 season and played in 49 games, hitting 13 doubles and three home runs. Last summer, Caufield had a 100-hit season, batting .283 with 16 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs and 59 RBI. He also stole 29 bases and continued to play stellar defensively at third base.

Caufield, while batting in the No. 2 spot in the order, went 7-for-16 with a double, triple and two home runs in the championship series against Quebec. He homered in Games 2 and 3.

The Wild Things open the season May 9 at Windy City. The home opener will be May 13 against Ottawa.
