TROY, N.Y. – Ian Walters hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving the Atlantic Conference a 5-4 victory over the Midwest in the Frontier League All-Star Game on Wednesday at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, home of the Tri-City Valleycats.

The hit by Walters, who was an all-star third baseman with the Wild Things in 2022 and now plays for Tri-City, capped a two-run seventh for the Atlantic.

Washington had two players in the game, outfielder Wagner Lagrange and infielder Ethan Wilder, and each produced a hit and went 1-for-3.

Lagrange, who played right field for the Midwest, singled in the first inning against Atlantic Conference starting pitcher Braeden Allemann of Quebec.

Wilder, who has been the Wild Things’ shortstop this season, played second base for the Midwest. In his first at-bat, in the second inning, Wilder stepped to the plate with runners on first and third. Wilder struck out but the Midwest executed a double steal on the play to take a 2-0 lead.

Wilder had a single up the middle in his second at-bat, against New Jersey pitcher Jalon Long.

The Midwest led 3-1 and 4-2 before the Atlantic started its comeback.

Joliet’s Braylin Marine doubled, tripled and scored two runs for the Midwest. New York’s Jason Agresti hit a solo homer for the Atlantic.

Stephen DiTomaso of the Down East Bird Dawgs won the Home Run Derby, which was held before the game.
