AUGUSTA, N.J. – Kobe Foster allowed one run over six innings and the Wild Things belted 21 hits on their way to a 17-1 shellacking of Sussex County Sunday afternoon at Skylands Stadium.

Foster (3-1) scattered six hits, struck out two and did not walk a batter to earn his 28th career victory and become Washington’s all-time leader in wins.

He came into the day tied with Aaron Ledbetter (2006-08) with 27.

Carlos Amezquita went 4-for-4 for the Wild Things while Robert Chayka, Andrew Czech and Wagner Lagrange had three hits apiece.

Amezquita and Czech produced five RBI apiece.

There were 10 different Wild Things players that had at least one hit and six had multi-hit games.

Czech hit his 16th homer of the season, a three-run shot, in the third inning. He also had a two-run single in the first.

Amezquita belted a two-run homer in the fifth, his first of the season and had a pair of doubles.

Chayka and Tommy Caufield also doubled for Washington.

Lake Erie defeated Evansville 3-1 on Sunday, so the Wild Things (32-28) remained a half game out of first place in the Central Division.

Jackson Balzan (4-4) was tagged for 10 runs, eight earned, on nine hits over four innings to take the loss for Sussex County (36-24). He walked three and struck out two.

Washington travels to Illinois Tuesday to begin a three-game set with the Windy City Thunderbolts.
