Wild Things blown out at Windy City

CRESTWOOD, Ill. – David Maberry hit a two-run homer and drove in four, and Windy City used a pair of four-run innings to beat the Wild Things 12-5 Wednesday morning at Ozinga Field.
The Wild Things, who won the series opener 5-2 Tuesday night, did not lose any ground in the Central Division race as Lake Erie lost 11-9 at Florence. The Crushers lead the Wild Things by a half-game.
Windy City scored four times in the first inning against Washington starter Dominic Puccetti (2-5), who was activated off the injured list before the game.
Washington’s Andrew Czech led off the top of the second with his 17th home run of the season. The Wild Things trailed 6-2 in the sixth but Maberry hit a two-run homer off reliever Christian Diaz and tacked on four more in the seventh against Lex Meinderts, who was making his professional debut.
Washington had 10 hits off Windy City starter Dylan Kirkeby (5-6) and two relievers. Eddie Hacopian was 3-for-4.
Windy City right fielder Cam Phelts, a former Wild Thing, went 2-for-3 with two runs and had four of the ThunderBolts’ five stolen bases.
