EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Wild Things finally opened their series against Evansville on Saturday night and lost 6-3 to the Otters at Bosse Field.

Washington had been rained out each of the past two nights, including in the scheduled series opener in Evansville on Friday night.

The Wild Things scored the game’s first run in the third inning when Tyreque Reed’s single drove in Brett Roberts.

Evansville, however, scored three times in the bottom of the third against Washington starter Marlon Perez (2-2) and tacked on three more in the fourth for a 6-1 advantage. Keenan Taylor had a two-run homer in the third.

Washington scored two runs in the eighth to close to within 6-3, but the Wild Things were hurt by leaving 13 runners on base, hitting into two double plays and having a runner thrown out on the bases.

Braden Scott was the winning pitcher, allowing one run over six innings. Three Evansville pitchers combined to strike out 12 Washington hitters.
