Wild Things take 1st game of doubleheader, 2nd game postponed
The Washington Wild Things took game one of its scheduled doubleheader with Joliet Saturday night.
Mother nature won the night cap.
Washington earned a 4-3 victory at EQT Park, but heavy rain forced the second game to be postponed.
It will be made up Sunday at 1 p.m before the scheduled game is slated to start at 5 p.m.
Before the deluge, the Wild Things and Slammers were able to squeak in the first game.
Wagner Lagrange hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Tyreque Reed, which proved to be the winning run.
Joliet (16-15) jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Wild Things (17-13) tied the game with a three-run bottom of the fourth on a bases clearing double by Kadon Morton.
Hector Garcia (1-1) picked up the win in relief, pitching 1 2/3rds innings of scoreless relief. Andrew Herbert pitched a clean seventh inning to nail down his second save.
Jacob Morin (0-1) took the loss in relief allowing one run on a hit and three walks in a 1/3rd of an inning.
Rain has impacted the Wild Things quite a bit this season, going all the way back to spring training.
Saturday marked the fourth time a regular season game has been postponed due to weather and the second time against Joliet.
