Strong outing from Foster helps Wild Things top Florence

FLORENCE, Ky. – Kobe Foster allowed only one run over six innings and had four strikeouts to help the Washington Wild Things secure a 9-5 win at Florence Sunday evening.
The win gave the first-place Wild Things (23-16) a series win over the Yalls (16-22).
Foster scattered five hits and didn’t allow a run until the sixth when TJ Reeves hit an RBI double. He secured his first win since resigning with the Wild Things two weeks ago. He’s the all-time leader in franchise history in strikeouts.
Tyreque Reed hit a two-run homer in the top of the first, which allowed Washington to jump out to an early lead.
The Wild Things got three runs in the seventh in part because of sloppy play by Florence. Ethan Wilder and Kadon Morton scored on an error by Yalls center fielder Tyler Shaneyfelt. Sammy Infante scored on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 5-1.
Florence committed two errors in the inning.
Washington added four more runs in the eighth on consecutive singles by Morton, Infante, Jommer Hernandez and Robert Chayka, all with two outs.
Evan Webster (2-3) took the loss for Florence, allowing two runs on three hits over six innings with one strikeout and two walks.
Washington scored seven runs off Florence’s bullpen, but only four were earned.
The Yalls scored twice in the ninth and had the bases loaded, but Washington reliever Andrew Herbert got Michael Ballard to flyout for the final out.
Washington returns home Tuesday to play Lake Erie with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
