As part of a series of moves made Monday, with more additions on the way this week, the Wild Things signed right-handed pitcher Christian Diaz, who pitched last summer in the MLB Draft League for the Frederick Keys.

Washington also released catcher Jommer Hernandez (.212) and left-handed pitcher Jake Carroll (2-0, 6.30), and traded catcher Willie Estrada (.242) to Southern Maryland of the Atlantic League for future considerations. Washington also placed relief pitcher Jacob McCaskey on the 7-day injured list.

The moves leave Washington with 21 active players, one under the league minimum. The Wild Things have to add at least one player before they host Lake Erie tonight (7:05) at EQT Park.

The only catcher currently on the Wild Things’ roster is rookie Three Hillier, who was signed last week.
