Wild Things stymied by Y’alls
For the second consecutive night, the Wild Things pitched well enough to win but couldn’t generate enough offense.
Brendan Bobo scored one run and drove in another as the Florence Y’alls edged the Wild Things 3-2 in a series opener Friday night at EQT Park.
The loss came one night after Washington was shut out, and had only one hit, in a loss at Joliet.
Against Florence, the Wild Things had six hits but squandered a couple of scoring opportunities that loomed large at game’s end.
Florence led 1-0 when Washington opened the bottom of the fourth with three consecutive singles up the middle, the last off the bat of Andrew Czech, tying the score.
Florence took a 3-1 lead in the fifth, getting an RBI single by T.J. Reeves and a run-scoring fielder’s choice by Bobo.
Washington closed to within 3-2 in the seventh when Kaden Morton, who was re-signed earlier in the day, had an RBI single.
Washington starter Marlon Perez (1-1) allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings.
Michael Barker (2-1) was the winner in relief.
