Wild Things blow 7-run lead, lose at Lake Erie
AVON, Ohio – The Wild Things squandered a late seven-run lead and lost a series opener to Lake Erie, 10-8, Tuesday night.
Washington led 8-1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Crushers scored seven times off relievers Albert Cuello-Batista and Jake Carroll on seven hits and two walks. Logan Thomason started the comeback with a two-run homer.
In the eighth, former major leaguer Alfredo Gonzalez hit a two-out, two-run homer off Hector Garcia (0-1) to give Lake Erie the lead.
Washington starter Regi Grace allowed one run over six innings.
Third baseman Cael Chatham, playing his first game with Washington, drove in three runs and Brett Roberts went 4-for-5.
