Wild Things sign pitcher, put former Three Rivers seats on sale
Spring training begins in less than a month for the Wild Things and their preseason roster continues to take shape. Washington announced the signing of another pitcher Wednesday, this one with Frontier League experience but with a different team.
The Wild Things have signed righthander Aaron Rund, who began his pro career in the Frontier League with Florence before playing the last two years in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system.
Rund (6-5, 225) signed with Florence in 2023 after his college eligibility ended at Campbell University. A native of Vallejo, Calif., Rund pitched in 11 games out of the bullpen for Florence at the end of the season and struck out 24 in 22 innings. He was signed by the Brewers the following offseason.
Each of the last two years, Rund played for Wisconsin in the Class A Midwest League. He proved to be a workhorse reliever, pitching in 75 games over the two seasons and posting a 6-6 record with 13 saves. He struck out 100 batters in 103 innings.
During his three seasons at Campbell, Rund was both a starter and reliever. He had a 12-2 record with the Camels, and in 2023 he struck out 71 batters in 61 innings while posting a 5-1 record in relief.
Rund is the 16th pitcher that the Wild Things have signed for 2026.
Wilder traded: The Wild Things made a trade Wednesday night, sending middle infielder Ethan Wilder to the Chicago Dogs of the American Association in exchange for future considerations. Wilder spent two seasons with the Wild Things, batting .285 in 2024 and .278 with 14 doubles last year. He appeared most often at second base.
Seats for sale
The Wild Things also announced that seats from the lower level at EQT Park are now on sale and can be purchased from the team store website (www.wildthingsteamstore.com) or by calling 866-456-WILD.
The blue seats were originally installed at Three Rivers Stadium in 1994 in preparation for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game that year. The seats were removed prior to demolition of the former home of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and then purchased by Ballpark Scholarships Inc., for installation at then-Falconi Field in 2002.
EQT Park will have new seats installed in the lower level this spring.
Fans can purchase seat backs, seat bottoms or full-seat bundles that include the back, bottom and arms. Seat bottoms are $25, backs are $25 and the full bundle is $75. Only season-ticket holders who have reserved their seats will be able to get a specific seat.
The purchase deadline is April 8. At 5 p.m.
