Mud Monsters double up Wild Things
PEARL, Miss. – It’s not often that an opponent gets the best of Wild Things starting pitcher Kobe Foster. The lefty entered Washington’s game Saturday night at Mississippi with a Frontier League-leading ERA of 1.98.
But Mississippi touched Foster for 11 hits and eight runs (seven earned) in six innings as the Mud Monsters doubled up the Wild Things 10-5 at Trustman Park.
Washington is 3-2 in the six-game series in Mississippi.
The Wild Things scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but Mississippi used a four-run fifth inning against Foster (8-3) to take a 5-2 lead. The Mud Monsters pulled away by scoring five times in the seventh inning to make the score 10-2.
Washington scored three runs in the top of the ninth.
Mississippi’s Brayland Skinner went 3-for-5 and hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning.
Washington was held to seven hits by three Mississippi hitters. Andrew Czech went 3-for-4.
