Evansville evens series with Wild Things
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Dennis Pierce homered and Evansville used four two-run innings to beat the Wild Things 8-4 Wednesday night at Bosse Field.
Landon Wileman (2-2) allowed two hits and two runs over six innings as the Otters evened the series between the top two teams in the Frontier League’s Central Division. Evansville pulled within two games of Washington in the standings.
The Wild Things took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, scoring without the benefit of a hit. But they didn’t score again until the eighth inning and Evansville had forged a commanding 8-2 lead by that point.The Otters tied the score in the third against Washington starter Esteban Rodriguez (0-1) and went ahead for good in the fifth on Pierce’s two-run homer.
Washington had an RBI double by Jeff Liquori in the eighth inning and Antonio Monroy drove in the final run in the ninth. Monroy went 3-for-5.
Rodriguez gave up nine hits and six runs over 5⅔ innings.
