EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Dennis Pierce homered for the second consecutive night and the Evansville Otters rode a pair of early four-run innings to a 10-3 victory over the Wild Things on Thursday night at Bosse Field.

Evansville won two of the three games in the series and pulled to within one game of the first-place Wild Things in the Frontier League’s Central Division.

It was the fourth consecutive game, and fifth time in six contests, that Washington has given up at least eight runs.

Evansville scored four times in both the third and fourth innings to forge a 9-0 lead.

Washington starter Brit Kostura gave up 13 hits and nine runs in 3⅔ innings. He did not issue a walk and struck out three.

Winning pitcher Ben Petschke struck out seven over 5⅓ innings.

Pierce, who played in the PSAC at West Chester and East Stoudsburg, hit a two-run homer, his 10th of the season, in the third inning. Marcos Gonzalez added a two-run homer an inning later.

Jeff Liquori went 3-for-4 for the Wild Things.

Evansville pitchers struck out 10 and walked only one batter.
