FLORENCE, Ky. – David Glancy of the Tri-City ValleyCats hit a tiebreaking solo home run with one out in the top of the ninth inning, giving the Atlantic Conference a 2-1 victory over the Midwest in the Frontier League All-Star Game played Wednesday night at Thomas More Stadium.

Pitching dominated the game as the Midwest, which includes the Washington Wild Things, was held to four hits.

The Midwest took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Gateway’s Jose Alvarez reached on an infield single, stole second and third and scored on a single by T.J. Slavaggio of Evansville.

The Atlantic tied it at 1-1 in the top of the seventh. Austin White, who played all nine innings, hit an RBI double off Schaumburg reliever Caleb Riedel.

Glancy hit his tiebreaking homer off Junior Cerda of Evansville.

Washington had four players in the game. Pitchers Kobe Foster and Landon Ginn each tossed a scoreless inning.

Foster was the starting pitcher for the Midwest. He gave up a two-out single but ended the inning with his second strikeout. Ginn pitched the sixth inning. He surrendered a leadoff single but after a caught stealing, the Washington closer recorded two strikeouts.

Washington hitters Andrew Czech and Anthony Brocato went a combined 1-for-5 with three strikeouts. Brocato had one of the four Midwest hits. In the second inning, he lined a hit off the left-field wall but White bare-handed the carrom, turned and fired a strike to second base to retire Brocato.

Czech, who started at designated hitter, struck out twice, then flew out to deep centerfield in the sixth inning.
