Wild Things get 3-1 win over division leader
POMONA, N.Y. – Jack Brodsky and three relievers combined on a five-hitter and the Wild Things defeated the East Division-leading New York Boulders 3-1 Friday night at Clover Stadium.
Brodsky (2-1) allowed one unearned run over 5⅔ innings. He scattered five hits and one walk.
Michael Foltz, Mack Anglin and Landon Ginn followed with 3⅓ hitless innings to secure the win. Ginn got the final three outs for his eighth save.
Washington took advantage of three New York errors that led to a pair of unearned runs against New York starter Garrett Peters (4-4).
Billy Sullivan had an RBI single in the second inning to open the scoring and Washington pushed across two runs in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. One run scored as Benjamin Rosengard reached first base on an error and Antonio Monroy added a two-out RBI single.
New York’s only run scored in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly.
Washington outhit New York 8-5. Sullivan and Cole Fowler each had two hits for the Wild Things.
