Mark Marietta Washington’s Kobe Foster was named the Frontier League’s Pitcher of the Week after his complete-game shutout of Florence.

There wasn’t much surprise or mystery around the Frontier League’s Pitcher of the Week announcement Monday.

In a pitching-starved league, the Wild Things’ Kobe Foster has been its most dominant hurler this year. And the lefty pitched one of his best games ever last Friday night in Washington’s 10-0 victory over Florence. It led to Foster being an easy pick for Pitcher of the Week.

Foster, who is Washington’s all-time wins leader, threw a three-hit shutout, walked only one batter and struck out eight.

This is the third Pitcher of the Week honor that has gone to a Washington player in the first five weeks of the season. Andrew Herbert and Hector Garcia also were tabbed for the honor.

Foster’s performance improved his record to 4-0 and lowered his ERA to 0.78. In 34 2/3 innings, he has allowed only 20 hits and three runs. He has 28 strikeouts.

It was Foster’s 10th career outing against Florence and improved his record to 5-0 versus the Y’alls. He has a 0.81 ERA against Florence.

Foster is Washington’s all-time leader in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched and starts. He is in his fifth season with the Wild Things. His all-time record is 34-9.

Quebec’s Kyle Crowl was named the Frontier League Player of the Week after hitting four home runs and driving in nine runs.
