Wild Things hit 3 more home runs, slam Slammers
JOLIET, Ill. – Andrew Czech hit a grand slam, Kyle Edwards added his first professional homer and Jeff Liquori hit a mammoth blast as the Wild Things overpowered Joliet 16-6 on Saturday night.
Washington will try for a three-game series sweep Sunday afternoon.
Edwards, the Wild Things’ shortstop, hit a three-run homer on the 10th pitch of his at-bat in the second inning. Edwards finished with a career-high five RBI.
Washington made it 4-0 in the third when Liquori hit his third home run of the season, a drive that landed on the roof of a building beyond the right field wall. It was measured at 451 feet.
Joliet tied the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the third inning, but Washington regained the lead with two runs in the fifth.
Czech added his grand slam in the ninth, pushing the lead to 16-4.
Washington starter Andrew Herbert (1-0) was the winning pitcher.
