Beale’s inside job helps cool off Wild Things

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Myles Beale hit an inside-the-park home run in the first inning and stole home in third, sparking Schaumburg to a 5-2 victory over the Wild Things on Wednesday night at Wintrust Field.

The loss snapped Washington’s three-game winning streak.

Derek Salata (2-1) allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings. He struck out seven. Aaron Glickstein pitched the final two innings for his second save.

Lefty Zander Sechrist (0-3) gave up three runs on seven hits over six innings.

Jeff Nichol hit a solo home run that gave the Boomers a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning.

Washington was held to four hits, including two by Kyle Edwards.

Prior to the game, the Wild Things put right fielder Jeff Liquori on the 14-day injured list with a knee injury suffered in a win over the Boomers on Tuesday.
