These are a few of the housing programs and services offered by the Greene County Human Services Department

The Master Leasing Housing Program provides housing (single units) within the limits of Waynesburg Borough to homeless people with a criminal background. Guests are required to pay 30 percent of their income as a service fee. Necessary support services are provided to enable guests to live independently, promote positive lifestyle changes, increase skill levels and self-sufficiency.

The Permanent Supportive Housing Program provides housing (single and family units) within the borough limits for homeless people with disabilities. Guests are required to pay 30 percent of their income as a service fee.

The Shelter Plus Care Program provides rental assistance (single and family units) anywhere within Greene County for hard-to-service homeless persons with disabilities, in connection with supportive services funded from sources outside the program. The lease for these apartments, as well as the utilities, are in the guest’s name. They are required to pay 30 percent of their net income as a service fee, as well as their utilities. However, they are given a utility allowance.

Supportive Services is a program that provides program participants with services designed to enhance their ability to maintain their own residence in the community.

The purpose of Emergency Solutions is to provide homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing to individuals and families who qualify. Also, the program provides financial assistance, housing relocation and stabilization services to eligible individuals and families.

The goal of Greene County Project for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness is to help reduce the homeless population in the community by conducting mobile outreach and providing assessment, crisis intervention and resource referral to homeless individuals and families. Clients are identified through direct outreach activities and through reports/referrals from shelters, police, churches, human service providers and people within the community. Outreach may occur in a community setting in which homeless people frequent, such as shelters, churches, soup kitchens and including, but not limited to, the streets.
