No Place to Call Home
The Observer-Reporter kicks off a yearlong initiative today on homelessness in Washington and Greene counties. Today, we identify some of the problems, including a shortage of available public housing.
Tomorrow, we will look at the agencies and some of the programs designed to assist the homeless.
Tuesday, the business community offers its perspective on the problem. We also share some of the ways community groups have reached out to offer help.
All three days, we will introduce you to some of the people who make their homes in the streets, and to a few people who were homeless and are reaching out to lend a hand to help.
The series will continue throughout the year to draw awareness to the problem.
Funds have also been established at the Washington County Community Foundation and Community Foundation of Greene County.
Please visit our page dedicated to the series to read the stories as they are published, and to contribute to the funds.
