Wheeling Island seeks expanded electronic table games
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack may soon have approval to expand the use of electronic table games.
The West Virginia Lottery Commission discussed that matter and others Friday in Charleston.
Spokeswoman Kim Florence said Wheeling Island wants to offer blackjack and roulette all day every day, even when a live dealer is unavailable.
She said that happens while live tables are full, or when they’re closed in the early morning.
Wheeling Island recently announced it will renew its table games license July 1, reconsidering an earlier threat.
But president Osi Imomoh said the casino faces “drastic declines” in revenues and still needs a long-term solution from the Legislature to make table games a profitable part of its business.
That could include slashing the $2.5 million licensing fee.
