Meadows table games revenue increases 52 percent since 2012
Table games revenue blossomed in May at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.
Figures posted on the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board website Monday showed that gross table revenue at the North Strabane Township casino last month increased a remarkable 52 percent over May 2012. The Meadows pulled in $4,134,336 in May, a $1,422,282 rise over the year-ago figure of $2,712,054.
Eighty tables were in daily operation both years at The Meadows.
This followed a 63 percent increase in April and a 9 percent hike in March from the same months in 2012.
The Meadows’ year-over-year increase in May was the largest among the state’s 11 casinos, nine of which experienced increases. Only the Rivers Casino on the North Side of Pittsburgh (down 1 percent) and Presque Isle Downs and Casino near Erie (down 18 percent) showed deficits. Rivers fell from $5,579,369 in May 2012 to $5,531,932 last month.
Statewide, gross revenues from table games increased 13 percent May over May. An average of 1,042 tables operated daily last month, generating $62,758,499 in gross revenue, well above $55,244,988 with 1,031 tables for the same month in 2012.
Slots play hasn’t fared as well this year at The Meadows and across the state. The North Strabane facility experienced a 4.67 percent drop in gross slots revenue in May compared with a year earlier, its sixth consecutive monthly decline. Total year-over-year revenue at the 11 casinos likewise has dropped off the past six months.
Still, combined gross revenue from table games and slots was up nearly $6.3 million, or 2.4 percent, from May 2012. Total revenue last month was $274,003,634, up from $267,682,157 one year earlier.
Last month’s table games generated $9,006,800 in tax revenue, with $7,751,630 being deposited into the state’s General Fund and $1,255,170 into the Local Share Fund.
