MVH earns national recognition in survey

2 min read

The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey is a nationally standardized survey developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for measuring how patients perceive the care they receive in hospitals.

Based on HCAHPS scores, Monongahela Valley Hospital is nationally ranked among the top three for medium-sized hospitals in nurse communication, doctor communication, staff responsiveness and pain management by the Johns Hopkins Medicine Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. High performance in these areas is related to higher quality of care and patient satisfaction.

“The HCAHPS scores are very important to hospitals because they are based on feedback from actual patients regarding the care that they received and their overall experiences,” said Donna Ramusivich, MVH senior vice president,. “It’s quite an accomplishment that an organization as respected as the Johns Hopkins Medicine Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality recognizes our patient safety and care efforts and ranks Monongahela Valley Hospital among the top three mid-sized hospitals in the country.

“The staff at Monongahela Valley Hospital continually strives to provide our patients with patient care experiences that exceed their expectations,” continued Ramusivich. “It is rewarding to know that our patients recognize our efforts, and we thank them for choosing MVH for their health and wellness needs.”

Representatives from MVH have been invited to share the hospital’s practices for delivering patient-centered care that contributed to the high ranking at Johns Hopkins’ “Best Practices in Patient-Centered Care” conference in Baltimore, Md., in September.
