Six California University of Pennsylvania football player were accused of attacking a man off-campus that left the victim hospitalized in critical condition with severe brain injuries. The beating on Oct. 30 and subsequent arrests the following day shook the university and prompted school officials to forfeit that weekends football game. The six players, who have been suspended from both the team and school, are now awaiting trial on charges that include aggravated assault. The victim was released from a Pittsburgh hospital more than a week after the beating and has since recovered from his injuries.
