The nutrients of the 23rd Psalm

The 23rd Psalm seems to be one of our favorite Psalms to quote. One can almost see King David reciting it as he was out on a high, beautiful green hill taking care of the sheep while he talked to God.

He was a good shepherd you know. Imagine a beautiful, grass-filled hill with a gentle-faced young man gently guiding the sheep to feast upon the grass. Good Shepherd’s do not leave their Sheep on dry, muddy, lifeless, and non-nutritional hills and mountains. They lead and guide them. They want their Sheep to eat well and fill their bodies with energy so that they can go on in their walk peacefully. Well-fed Sheep are capable of carrying out whatever duties they are assigned. It makes it easier on the Shepherd. David was a true man of God and knew how to wisely care for his flock by praising and worshipping God and hearing God’s still, small voice within his heart.

I believe that David talked to God so much and loved Him so much that God had to send Prophet Samuel to anoint David as King of Israel even though Saul was then the King. God knows our hearts.

God knew David’s. Saul’s stubbornness had failed Him. Make sure that your Shepherd is leading you within green pastures and beside still waters by listening to God’s voice and not their own. Discern. Selah.

Below I have listed each factor of David’s prayer for your reading. Note how it fulfills all that we need.
