Biggest Winner contestant, floor become great friends

All of our workouts have been intense, but the past two days have been killer. I’m talking face on the floor and dripping in sweat – killer.

The first week I was sore and tired. This week, the pain has lessened, but Kendra has amped up our routines. I’ve become great friends with the floor this week and it’s because I keep landing there.

Oh, the floor. It’s a great place to be, really. It’s cool and relaxing. The floor doesn’t make me spin on the bike vigorously uphill while standing, then hovering, and then make me hop off and do burpees and jumping jacks and lift weights. No, not the floor. The floor is kind.

The floor catches me after planking. But wait, we don’t just plank. The whole team holds a plank position while each member takes a turn counting out push-ups. So, I’m holding a plank while 5 other people count out their push-ups individually, then it’s my turn and I do my painful push-ups. That’s when I come crashing down upon my friend, the floor.

I’m really starting to like my friend the floor. You know who isn’t my friend? The bike. I DO NOT like the bike. After one round of spinning, jumping and burpee-ing (I’m sure that’s the correct terminology) – we aren’t done quite yet. Back on the bike we go. AGH! I actually yelled out for the first time today and I was yelling at the bike.

This training is hard and sometimes I don’t like it, but those feelings are temporary – they are gone by 7AM. What lasts with me all day is this happy feeling of accomplishment. Knowing I tried my best and gave it my all. I have more energy and I feel better physically and mentally. The benefits of this program are far greater than any brief fight I may have with a bike.

So, if you’re looking for me in the next few weeks, check the floor of the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center. I’ll be there.
