Henneman and Weiss among local players selected for Roundball Classic
Several local players will get the opportunity to participate in the top all-star basketball game in Western Pennsylvania.
Rosters for the Pittsburgh Roundball Classic, which is a two-day event in mid-April at Geneva College, were released early this week and seniors from nine different schools in the Observer-Reporter’s coverage area received invitations.
The first set of games will occur Fri., April 17 with the Class A/Prep School all-stars taking on Class AA/District 10/City League players at 6 p.m.
Tray Matthews of California and Rece Henneman of Jefferson-Morgan will compete for the Class A team, while Chartiers-Houston’s Alec Ferrari was invited to participate for Class AA/D10/City League.
Class AAA all-stars will face the Quad-A team at 8 p.m., and South Fayette guard Jack Relihan will represent AAA.
On Sat., April 18, Class A/City League/District 6 & 10 girls all-stars will play the Class AA all-stars at 2 p.m. Fort Cherry’s Tina Bellhy will represent Class A and Caroline Cree of Carmichaels will be one of her opponents.
The Class AAA team will face Quad-A at 4 p.m. and two McGuffey players were invited to represent their classification. Sammie Weiss and Rachel Czulewicz will compete for Class AAA, while Canon-McMillan’s Danielle Parker will play for the Quad-A team.
Weiss and Czulewicz will be joined on the Class AAA team by Ringgold senior center Marlena Schmidt, a West Virginia recruit.
