Warning – Contains spoilers!

In a desolate United States, ruthless barons rule the territory. Guns are banned. Barons rule by power and fear.

Sunny, the most feared warrior in the Badlands, serves the powerful Baron Quinn.

M.K. is a boy who is being hunted down by Quinn’s archenemy, a baron known as the Widow. When Sunny crosses paths with M.K., he discovers M.K. has a dark power that could be used as a weapon of destruction – a power that the Widow wishes to obtain to kill Quinn.

Sunny, torn between protecting his love and his loyalty to the baron, must dance a dangerous line. If he is caught, he will be killed and so will the ones he loves.

The first two episodes contain fast-paced battle scenes, along with character building. Characters fight with a mixed style of martial arts and close-quarters weapons, such as swords and knives. There is also a lot of hand-to-hand combat that can be violent and a little gruesome.

While it is a little early to say how the show will turn out, it shows a lot of promise.

“Into the Badlands” airs Sundays at 10 p.m., after “The Walking Dead.”
