Steelers vs. Chiefs game-day thread

1 min read

Ben Roethlisberger will not play today. That was “breaking news” for the national reporters today, but obviously everyone in Pittsburgh already knew that. I’m not sure why it was news.

Landry Jones will get his first career start here at Arrowhead Stadium at quarterback, as will Alejandro Villanueva at left tackle.

Roethlisberger leads the list of Steelers inactives. Also inactive are Will Allen, Terence Garvin – who suffered a knee injury late in the week – Byron Stingily, Jesse James, Mike Vick and Stephon Tuitt.

If you’re keeping track at home, that’s three key starters on the inactive list and doesn’t include left tackle Kelvin Beachum, who was placed on IR earlier in the week.

Kansas City, however, isn’t without some injuries of its own.

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, the Chiefs’ leading receiver, is out today with a concussion, as is starting defensive end Mike DeVito.

The Chiefs will, however, get nose tackle Dontari Poe back. Poe had missed several weeks with a knee injury.

Chris Conley will start at wide receiver in place of Maclin.

The weather should not be an issue here today. It’s sunny and clear with a slight breeze.
