W&J men drops season opener
Danzel Wright scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half and hot-shooting Stevenson pulled away to defeat Washington & Jefferson 80-65 Friday in the season-opening Greg Richards Memorial Classic at Allegheny College.
Stevenson shot 54 percent from the field compared to 39 percent for W&J. Stevenson’s hooting helped it forge a 43-33 halftime lead.
W&J did force 19 Stevenson turnovers, which the Presidents turned into 22 points. Brian Lindquist led a balanced scoring attack for W&J with 14 points, including 11 int he first half. Sean Stinelli followed with 13 points and Nicholas Campalong tallied 10.
