Weiss’ goal saves Lions
Rachel Weiss scored with :37 to go to give South Fayette a 3-2 win over Chartiers Valley in a Class 3A first-round playoff match Monday night.
Morgan Montani tied the match at 2-2 with 6:22 left for the Colts. Rachel Helbling and Brenna McGuire gave the Lions a 2-0 lead.
OLSH 6, Bentworth 2
Bentworth got a goal in the first minute but Our Lady of Sacred Heart dominated from there in a 6-2 victory in the first round of the WPIAL Class A playoffs.
Paige Marshalek scored 38 second in but OLSH got two in the first half and four in the second.
“Both defenses made a lot of mistakes (but) unfortunately for us, only OLSH converted on the mistakes,” said Bentworth coach Tyler Hamstra. “OLSH outplayed us. We made too many mistakes defensively. Our defense has been a little suspect all season but did very well overall.”
Jocelyn Timlin had the other goal for Bentworth (11-6-1). OLSH is 11-5-3.

Canon-McMillan fell to Norwin, 6-1, in Class 4A; Burrell defeated Charleroi, 5-0, in Class AA and North Catholic blanked Chartiers-Houston, 5-0, in Class A. No further information was made available to the Observer-Reporter.
