Arthur Lewis Fletcher
Arthur Lewis Fletcher, 91, of Inman, S.C., formerly of Greene C o u n t y, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017, in his home, surrounded by loved ones. Born December 6, 1925, in Graysville, he was a son of the late Winfield Enlow and Nora Pearl Loar Fletcher. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Fletcher served as a signalman during World War II, earning the rank of SM 3/C. He was awarded both the Victory Medal and American Campaign Medal during his tour of duty. After his discharge, he established a management career in the retail industry. His career took him to various locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He retired in 1988 after 40 years of service with G.C. Murphy Co. in 14 different locations, with his last store being in Spencer, W.Va. Mr. Fletcher served as president of Kiwanis Club in Gallipolis, Ohio, and Retail Merchant Association, while in Gallipolis and Meadville. He enjoyed playing golf whenever his health permitted. Survivors include his wife of over 68 years, Vileta Ann Booth Fletcher, whom he married June 12, 1949; three children, Gregory Len (Kathy) Fletcher of Spartanburg, S.C., Ronald Lee Fletcher (Susan) of Pittsburgh and Lu Ann (Thomas Stepp) Fletcher of St. Augustine, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan, Amy and Brianna Fletcher. In addition to his parents, deceased are six siblings, Harry E. Fletcher, Robert L. Fletcher, Willard Fletcher, Willis Fletcher, Lucile McCullough and Irene “Jessie” Fletcher, who passed away in infancy. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC., 3275 West Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, 724-499-5181. A graveside service with full military honors will follow in Braddock Cemetery, Richhill Township, Graysville, PA 15337.
