Donna Weckoski and Jeremy Wallace have been elected to three-year terms on the Mon Valley Alliance board of directors. They were elected by the other members and began serving Jan. 1.

Weckoski is executive director of the Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority. Wallace is vice president of A C Power Tech Inc., a Mon Valley-based engineering and manufacturing provider of power distribution solutions.

The other 13 members are: John Easoz, John LaCarte, Randy T. Patterson, Michael Thornton, Bob Burke, Tanya Chaney, Bill Lee, Gina C. Lynn, Edward Mendola, Lou Panza, Louis A. Quarto, Mary Stollar and Claudia Williams.

The Washington Wild Things will offer two new packages for youths 12 and under in the upcoming season: “Kids Eat Free” Sundays and a discounted ticket for all home games. The team is doing so in partnership with WTAE, Dunkin’ Donuts, PA Leadership Charter School and Macaroni Kid of Pittsburgh.

The state Department of Environmental Protection announced Thursday that six small businesses in Washington County were among 155 statewide to be approved for Small Business Advantage Grant money totaling $1 million. (The recipients made matching investments.) The county businesses, which all will get funding for LED lighting upgrades, are: Coyle Transport Services ($16,650 private investment, $7,000 grant); Fenerb LLC-DBA West Penn Billiards and Fine Furniture ($4,748 investment; $4,746 grant); Kosports Inc. ($7,220, $6,343); R&M Grinding ($9,306, $5,170); Sollon Pharmacy ($1,362, $1,043); and Topcat Laundry DNBA Canon Coin Laundry ($3,014, $1,416).

The Government Agency Coordination Office at California University of Pennsylvania PTAC will hold the seminar “COSTARS Contract Program” from 9 a.m. to noon March 14 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Racetrack Road, North Strabane Township.

It will focus on the cooperative purchasing program managed by the state Department of General Services’ Bureau of Procurement. There are 33 COSTARS contracts that include copiers; information technology hardware; street lighting; parking meters; maintenance repair and operation; equipment and supplies; graphic and printing services; and pest control.

Roger Dolanch, broker/owner of CENTURY 21 Frontier Realty, recently honored a number of employees at the Peters Township office. Earning Quality Service Pinnacle Producer Awards were: Jen Eckels, John Kubicar, Cindy Namie and Andrea Sweeney. The Grand Centurion Team award went to the Jim Dolanch team (for independent franchise sales teams with $1.1 million in sales or 318 closed transaction sides in a calendar year). Sales associate Judi Agostinelli was presented the President’s Producer Award ($263,000 in sales or 70 closed transaction sides). Winning the Centurion and Quality Service Pinnacle awards in the same year enabled the office to earn the company’s annual President’s Award.

Herbert J. Carlisle, 62, has been elected to the 11-member board of directors of Allegheny Technologies Inc. Carlisle, a retired four-star Air Force general, is president and chief executive officer of the National Defense Industrial Association. ATI has a plant in Canton Township.

Charleston-based Bowles Rice was named “West Virginia Firm of the Year” for the second consecutive year by Benchmark Litigation. The company, which has offices in six locations including Southpointe was honored Feb. 15 during Benchmark Litigation’s annual U.S. awards ceremony in New York City.
