Lockdown coincides with jail maintenance
A change in electrical panels during a lockdown at the Washington County jail Thursday afternoon caused some prisoners to be late for court appearances.
The periodic routine maintenance took only about 20 minutes, said County Commissioner Larry Maggi, chairman of Washington County Prison Board. No one is permitted to leave the jail during a lockdown.
Water upgrades to be made in Jefferson
Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority will shut off water on Clarksville Road, including Dusha’s Hill and Adamik Road, in Jefferson Township from 8?a.m. to 3?p.m. Tuesday to make system upgrades. Customers may have low to no water pressure and are advised to keep containers of water on hand to minimize the inconvenience.
Trooper recognized for DUI enforcement
A state trooper assigned to Troop B’s Washington station was recognized by the Pennsylvania DUI Association with a DUI Top Gun award.
Trooper Mateo Hererra received the award Thursday at the association’s annual meeting in Lancaster. The award is given to police officers who have developed a commitment to DUI enforcement.
Line painting planned on I-70
Single-lane restrictions will take place on Interstate 70 near the Bentleyville interchange while line painting is done.
The restriction may occur any day that weather permits painting. The work will be done between 9?a.m. and 3?p.m.
PFA violation charge dropped
A charge of violating a protection-from-abuse order brought against Darrell Provance of Washington in October has been dropped in Washington County Court.
