SHERPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Gina Vallecorsa scored a career-high 30 points and made eight three-pointers to power California University to a 78-60 victory over host Shephered in a nonconference game Wednesday evening.

Vallecorsa made 10 of 14 shots from the field and was 8-for-8 from three-point range for the undefeated Vulcans (3-0).

Shepherd (2-1) did a good job against Cal’s Seairra Barrett, who had scored 75 points in the Vulcans’ first two games. Barrett was held to eight points but the rams forgot about Vallecorsa, who scorched the Rams for 19 first-ahfl points. Cal led 44-26 at halftime.

Ahmya Woodyard was the only other Cal player to score in double figures. She came off the bench to contribute 11 points.

Kari Lankford led Shepherd with 17 points.
