Southwestern Local Task Force to meet

The Parent Group-Southwestern Local Task Force 1 will meet from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 20 at Arc of Washington County, Meadowpointe Center, 470 Johnson Road, Suite 200, Washington. An overview of services at Arc will be given. For more information, call 724-938-3241 extension 273 or 222.

Bentleyville Road to close temporarily

Construction for the Bentleyville Road bridge, spanning Pigeon Creek in Fallowfield Township, will require a 24-hour closure of Bentleyville Road Nov. 7 for beam setting. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Interstate 70, Route 481 and Bentleyville Road. In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.

Nov. 6 electronics collection restricted

The Nov. 6 electronics collection at Washington Mall is restricted to Washington County residents only. Volunteers will be checking identification for proof of residency. Long wait times and temporary closures may occur when the event reaches capacity. The event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Among the items that can be collected are computers, monitors and related equipment, Freon appliances, fluorescent tubes and CFL bulb and most household appliances. Only one television per car will be accepted. Damaged televisions will be charged a $50 hazardous handling fee. There is a $15 Freon removal fee. Bridge reopens in Blaine, Independence

A bridge that carries Route 231 over Brush Run Creek in Blaine and Independence townships has reopened to traffic.
