Gary Sanchez hit three of the Yankees’ seven home runs, their most on the road in more than a half-century, and New York routed the Baltimore Orioles 15-3 Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

Clint Frazier homered twice and had four hits, a day after hitting a go-ahead three-run drive for his first big league homer since July 28, 2017. Austin Romine and Gleyber Torres also went deep for the Yankees, who got back to .500 at 4-4.

New York’s first 18 runs of the series scored on homers, and the Yankees hit 14 over the three games, a record in a three-game series at Baltimore. New York had not hit seven homers on the road since May 30, 1961, at Boston, when Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris and Moose Skowron hit two each, and Yogi Berra had one.

Cleveland 3, Toronto 1: Mike Clevinger struck out 10 and allowed one hit over five scoreless innings, then left with upper back tightness as the Cleveland Indians beat the struggling Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 to complete a four-game sweep.

Clevinger (1-0) hasn’t allowed a run in 12 innings over his first two starts, striking out 22. He retired his first nine hitters, walked Socrates Brito leading off the fourth, then gave up a double to Freddy Galvis. Clevinger fanned Randal Grichuk, Rowdy Tellez and Teoscar Hernandez in order, all swinging. He threw 75 pitches in all.

Detroit 3, Kansas City 1: Tyson Ross pitched seven impressive innings in his Comerica Park debut, and the Detroit Tigers extended their winning streak to five with a 3-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Houston 9, Oakland 8: Jose Altuve drew a four-pitch walk from Oakland closer Blake Treinen with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Houston Astros a 9-8 win and a three-game sweep of the Athletics.

Seattle 12, Chicago White Sox 5: Daniel Vogelbach homered twice, hit a bases-clearing double and set a career high with six RBIs, helping the Seattle Mariners beat the Chicago White Sox 12-5 to extend the best start in club history at 9-2.

L.A. Angels 7, Texas 2: Mike Trout homered for the fourth straight game and the Los Angeles Angels, after waiting out a five-minute delay caused by a swarm of bees, beat the Texas Rangers, 7-2.

Atlanta 4, Miami 3: Dansby Swanson hit a game-ending single against a five-man infield and the Atlanta Braves, helped by a catcher’s interference call, beat the Miami Marlins 4-3.

Miami’s Curtis Granderson tied it in the top of the ninth with a pinch-hit homer off Arodys Vizcaino (1-0).

Freddie Freeman led off Atlanta’s ninth win an infield single, the ball glancing off pitcher Adam Conley’s glove as he tried to snare the grounder behind his back. Ronald Acuna Jr. followed with an apparent double-play grounder, but home plate umpire Will Little immediately called catcher’s interference on Chad Wallach.

A passed ball by Wallach allowed Freeman to advance to third. After Marlins manager Don Mattingly brought in right fielder Rosell Herrera to form a five-man infield, leaving right field vacant, Conley (0-2) walked Markakis to load the bases.

St. Louis 4, San Diego 1: Adam Wainwright was in vintage form, pitching six sharp innings as the St. Louis Cardinals avoided a three-game sweep by beating the San Diego Padres 4-1.

Milwaukee 4, Chicago Cubs 2: Christian Yelich homered and drove in three, Josh Hader completed an eight-out save and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs, 4-2.

Washington 12, N.Y. Mets 9: Max Scherzer got his first win, Anthony Rendon hit a three-run homer and the Washington National were helped by 12 walks in a 12-9 win over the New York Mets.

Interleague

Philadelphia 2, Minnesota 1: Rhys Hoskins hit a two-run homer, Zach Eflin threw seven sharp innings and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Minnesota Twins, 2-1.

Boston 1, Arizona 0:

Mitch Moreland homered off Merrill Kelly on the first pitch of the seventh inning, and the World Series champion Boston Red Sox ended an awful opening trip with a 1-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Tampa Bay 3, San Francisco 0: Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash kept getting the most from his pitching staff, moving reliever Adam Kolarek to first base in a piece of matchup strategy, and the Rays blanked the San Francisco Giants, 3-0.
