With Ringgold down to its final out, Chase Angotti ripped a three-run double to left field in the top of the seventh inning, lifting the Rams to a stunning 3-2 victory over South Park in a Class 4A Section 3 game Saturday night.
South Park (2-3, 6-4) scored single runs in the first and sixth innings for a 2-0 lead, and Eagles pitcher Kevin Vaupel was working a shutout with two outs in the top of the seventh when he reached the 100-pitch limit and by rule had to be replaced on the mound. That jump-started the comeback by Ringgold (4-1, 5-3).
A single by Travis Drusbansky and two walks loaded the bases. Angotti then smacked his three-run double that gave Ringgold its first runs and lead of the night.
Winning pitcher Gage Fuller went six strong innings. Josh Peters got the final three outs – two on strikeouts – for a save.
