Adios Week preview
Perhaps the most-anticipated week of the year at The Meadows Casino Racetrack Hotel is Adios Week – this year from Friday, July 19 through Saturday, July 27.
Adios has been a tradition since 1967, when Delvin Miller, Harness Racing Hall of Famer and The Meadows Racetrack founder, started the Adios Pace for the Orchids in honor of his famed late stallion, Adios. The purse that year was $85,510.
The fun begins on July 19 with a performance by Aaron Lewis in the Event Center – tickets for the performance can be purchased at ticketmaster.com or at the Casino’s gift shop.
On July 20, live racing Adios eliminations begin at 1:05 p.m. post time. A week full of Grand Circuit harness racing and a number of special events will get everyone revved up for Adios Eve on July 26 – which is also Family Fun Night sponsored by the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association. In addition to live racing beginning at 5:30 p.m., a DJ will spin tunes from 6-9 p.m.
Finally, on Saturday, July 27, the 53rd Adios Pace for the Orchids racing with the top 3-year-old standardbred colts and geldings begins at noon. Immediately following the race, NOMaD will perform live, from 6-8 p.m.
