Major league roundup: Bellinger robs Yelich, homers as Dodgers top Brewers

4 min read

Cody Bellinger reached over the right field wall to rob Christian Yelich in the eighth inning of yet another home run, then hit a solo drive off Josh Hader with two outs in the ninth to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 on Sunday.

St. Louis 6, N.Y. Mets 4: Paul Goldschmidt drove in two runs and Noah Syndergaard had better luck at the plate than on the mound, hitting a homer with Dexter Fowler’s help as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the New York Mets, 6-4.

Chicago 2, Arizona 1: David Bote hit a game-ending RBI single in the ninth inning, and the Chicago Cubs used a terrific performance by Tyler Chatwood to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1.

Meadows was hurt when he awkwardly slid into third base on a two-run triple in the seventh inning of Saturday night’s 6-5 loss to the Boston Red Sox. “Just kind of a freak accident,” he said.

The 23-year-old right fielder said an MRI showed some damage and that he would be examined by a hand specialist.
