It wouldn’t be Memorial Day Weekend without the Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival. Join the Observer-Reporter Friday, May 24 through Sunday, May 26 as they transform The Meadows Racetrack & Casino apron into a jam-packed foodie festival.

The event, which began in 2016, has grown every year, and this year is no exception. More than 50 of the region’s best food trucks will be in attendance, plus live entertainment, craft beer and wine, regional artisans and vendors and lots more!

Throw your diet out the window and break out your stretchiest pants – with oohey, goohey fancy grilled cheeses from Oh My Grill, sweet confections from The Dapper Doughnut in Waynesburg and Caustelot Creamery, as well as barbecue from Gil’s Pit Beef and sushi from Nakama, you might want to formulate a game plan in advance. And, for those who do want to stay on the healthier side, you’re in luck! Hummus Pittsburgh and Kimberley Ashley Catering are among the lighter options.

Family Fun Night is Friday, May 24 from 5 p.m.-9:30 p.m. and will include kids’ activities, vendors and artisans, a select number of food trucks and live music by DJ AJ Fresh. The Weiner Dog Races in between live harness racing will be the highlight of the evening. The night will be capped off with a firework display at dusk.

“The Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival is a great way to kick off summer with your family,” says Observer-Reporter advertising director Carole DeAngelo. “People travel from all over to experience this event, and we’re proud to welcome them to our region with such a diverse mix of food, entertainment and family fun. We’re excited to have more food trucks than ever and more kids activities than ever this year.”

The festival opens up again on Saturday, May 25, and runs noon-8 p.m. On Sunday, it goes from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Guests can beat the beat with a misting stations, and a passport of sorts can be stamped at each food truck visited. Once guests have five stamps, they have a chance to win prizes – which, at press time, have not yet been announced. Stay tuned!

The weekend’s entertainment will include performances by The Brighton Boys and Ferris Bueller’s Revenge! on Saturday and Nied’s Hotel Band and Rick K. & The Allnighters on Sunday.

Perhaps the best part, admission to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival is free all weekend!
