Support Our Aviation Resources (SOAR) of Greene County welcomed the C-54 “Spirit of Freedom” at Greene County Airport on Aug. 6, accompanied by a color guard from Waynesburg VFW Post 4793.

The Spirit of Freedom is a flying memorial and museum to the Berlin Airlift. It will be parked at Greene County Airport until Sunday, August 18th.

On August 16th, Battle 4 Warriorz will be hosting a strongman pull with the aircraft at center stage. The following day SOAR’s Aviation Days kicks off with free airplane rides for kids ages 8-17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At 4 p.m. on August 18 the C-54 will be performing a “Candy Drop,” reenacting Operation Little Vittles, a Berlin Airlift tradition that started in 1948.
