Duquesne erases 19-point deficit, beats George Mason
Tavian Dunn-Martin had a career-high 22 points as Duquesne narrowly beat George Mason, 79-78, Saturday.
The Dukes overcame a 19-point deficit to make it a close finish. Frankie Hughes scored the tying 3-pointer and Michael Hughes the go-ahead free throw in the final two minutes.
Frankie Hughes had 15 points for Duquesne (9-5 Atlantic 10 Conference, 18-9). Marcus Weathers added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Hughes had 11 points for the visiting team.
Eric Williams Jr., whose 13 points per game heading into the contest led the Dukes, had only 4 points on 2-of-13 shooting.
Javon Greene had 18 points and six rebounds for the Patriots (9-5, 15-12). Otis Livingston II added 18 points. Justin Kier had 14 points and seven rebounds.
Duquesne faces Saint Bonaventure on the road Wednesday.
Penn State 83, Illinois 76: Lamar Stevens scored 25 points and Mike Watkins got his 26th career double-double as Penn State beat Illinois, 83-76.
Josh Reaves added 14 points for Penn State (3-12 Big Ten Conference, 11-16).
Ayo Dosunmu led Illinois (6-10, 10-17) with 18 points, all of them coming in the second half. Andres Feliz added 17 points for the Illini.
Watkins, who scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, also blocked five shots and moved into second place all-time for blocked shots at Penn State.
The game was intense and included a second-half technical foul on Illinois coach Brad Underwood, who kicked a chair following a call he disagreed with. Illinois went on a 7-3 run following the technical.
Baylor 82, West Virginia 75: Mario Kegler had 23 points and 10 rebounds, including a 3-pointer that gave Baylor the lead for good and six free throws in the final minute in an 82-75 win over West Virginia.
In a game that featured more fouls (51) than field goals made (47) and 12 lead changes, the Bears (9-5 Big 12, 18-9) outscored the Mountaineers 16-5 in the final 2:45 to secure the win.
Devonte Bandoo scored 22 points off the bench for Baylor, which also received 15 points and 14 rebounds from Mark Vital and 12 points from Jared Butler.
West Virginia (10-17, 2-12) led for 29 minutes, 27 seconds and had four players in double figures. But the Mountaineers went cold down the stretch and shot 6 for 22 (27 percent) from 3-point range for the game.
Lamont West had 15 points for West Virginia but was 4 for 14 from the floor and Jordan McCabe added 14. Jermaine Haley and Andrew Gordon scored 13 apiece for the Mountaineers, who lost their fifth straight.
