San Francisco 49ers safety Antone Exum Jr. was fined $53,482 by the NFL for his hit on Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods last Sunday.

College wrestling
Behind a first-place finish in the 165-pound weight class by Jared Walker, the Washington & Jefferson wrestling team tied Alma for first place in the team standings at the 18-team Waynesburg Invitational held Saturday.
The tournament win is W&J’s first of the year, as they have placed in the top four in three consecutive events. The Presidents and Scots both tallied 110 team points on the day, edging third-place Apprentice by six.
Leading the way for W&J was Walker, as he notched his second title of the year. The first of his five wins on the day came via a bye in the first round. In the next two rounds, Walker earned pins over both Alma’s Alexander Henry (1:47) and Gettysburg’s Marc Larson (1:51). A 7-2 decision over Case Western’s Isaac Collier sent Walker to the finals, where he topped Apprentice’s Chad Simmons by a 6-2 decision to take the title.
Hunter Neely took second place at 157 by going 4-1. Neely would fall in the finals due to a medical default. Manny Dovshek, Michael Heinl and Jaden Datz each finished third in their respective weight classes.
In the NBA
Nikola Jokic scored a season-high 39 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, reserve Paul Millsap added 18 and the Western Conference-leading Denver Nuggets knocked off the Charlotte Hornets 123-110 on Saturday for their 10th straight home victory. At 26-11, the Nuggets are off to their best NBA start in franchise history.
Mets trade
for Broxton
The New York Mets acquired outfielder Keon Broxton from the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday, giving them a center field option in addition to Juan Lagares.
The Mets sent reliever Bobby Wahl to the Brewers along with a pair of minor leaguers, right-handed reliever Adam Hill and infielder Felix Valerio.
Broxton had four home runs, 11 RBIs and a .179 batting average in 51 games for Milwaukee last season. While he stole 23 bases in 2016 and 21 the following year, he swiped just five last season. A right-handed batter, he hit 20 homers in 2017 but struck out 175 times.
