Home runs lift Pirates over Orioles
Cole Tucker hit two of the Pirates’ five solo home runs in a 5-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles Thursday afternoon.
Tucker, Pittsburgh’s first-round pick in 2014, hit his first homer in the seventh inning before breaking a tied game in the ninth inning with a walk-off home run.
Erik Gonzalez, Adam Frazier and Patrick Kivlehan also homered for the Pirates, who have won three consecutive games to improve to 7-5.
Starting pitcher Jordan Lyles made his third appearance, allowing two runs – one earned – and three hits in four innings.
Pittsburgh continues spring training with split-squad games today against Toronto. Both games start at 1 p.m.
