A run-scoring single by Max Gauden to score Josh Hoffman proved to be the difference as Belle Vernon edged Trinity, 3-2, in a non-section game.

Gauden’s single came in the top of the fifth inning to give Belle Vernon (10-5) a 3-0 lead.

Trinity (8-10) answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth on a line-drive single from Nathan Fetcho and an RBI triple from Forrest Havanis, who had three hits.

Starting pitcher Andrew Sokol and reliever Tyler Steadman prevented the Hillers from scoring the game-tying run. Sokol scattered seven hits and allowed two runs in his six innings for the Leopards to earn the win. Steadman pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.
