Burgettstown area Memorial Day services are as follows:

Paris Cemetery, 8 a.m.; Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, 8:15 a.m.; Grandview Cemetery, 8:30 a.m.; Langeloth Honor Roll, 8:50 a.m.; Eldersville Honor Roll, 9:10 a.m.; Cross Creek Cemetery, 9:30 a.m.; Atlasburg VFW, 9:45 a.m.; Slovan VFW, 10:15 a.m.; Fairview Cemetery, 10:35 a.m.; Cherry Valley Honor Roll, 10:50 a.m.; Bulger Honor Roll, 11:10 a.m.; Joffre Honor Roll, 11:25 a.m.; Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 11:40 a.m.; Burgettstown American Legion, 11:55 a.m.

On Monday, May 27, American Legion Post 175 of Washington will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony. Events will begin at 10 a.m. in the legion parking lot, moving at 10:45 to Washington Cemetery, 11:05 a.m. at Washington County Courthouse, 11:25 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 11:45 a.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery and 12:05 p.m. at Polish Cemetery. The speaker this year is Bill Shears.

On Sunday, May 26, Marianna Legion Post 744 will hold events at the following times and locations:

  • 8:15 a.m., Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Cemetery
  • 8:45 a.m., Franklin Cemetery
  • 9:15 a.m., Dunkard Church
  • 10 a.m., Highland Ridge Church
  • 10:30 a.m., Lone Pine Cemetery
  • 11 a.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church
  • 11:30 a.m., North Ten Mile Baptist Church
  • Noon, Marianna Catholic Cemetery
  • 12:30 p.m., Horne Cemetery
  • 12:45 p.m., Russian Cemetery
  • 1:30 p.m., cemetery at the legion

On Monday, May 27, in Midway, the schedule is as follows:

  • 9:30 a.m., flag-raising/salute at the Primrose honor roll
  • 9:30 a.m., veteran naming ceremony at the Midway honor roll
  • 9:45 a.m., flag-raising/salute at the Midway honor roll
  • 10 a.m., service at Center Cemetery in Midway

In the event of rain, the service will be held at the Midway VFW.

On Monday, May 27, in McDonald, there will be a flag-raising/salute at 10:30 a.m. at the Robinson Township honor roll. The parade and a flag-raising, salute and service at the American Legion memorial will begin at 11:15 a.m.

A memorial service to honor the 28 men from the Mt. Pleasant Townshipo area who have given their lives for their country will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Bud Allison Memorial Auditorium, Mt. Pleasant Township Community Center, Hickory. There will be special music, a bagpiper and flutist, along with a presentation of the Fallen Comrade Table. Refreshments will follow the service.

California Rotary is partnering with other local organizations to sponsor a Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Memorial Circle, Fourth and Union streets, California. The ceremony, entitled “We Remember,” will include tributes to veterans and first responders, patriotic songs, introduction of the essay contest winner, and will conclude with the playing of taps.
